DARRELL GWYNN FOUNDATION DONATES QUICKIE® WHEELCHAIR WHILE RAISING MONEY TO CONTINUE ITS FIGHT AGAINST PARALYSIS

Barrett-Jackson Week of Events Raises Over $106,000 for DGF

Davie, FL , (April 3, 2006) , The Darrell Gwynn Foundation (DGF) announces yet another successful weekend at the Barrett-Jackson Collector Auto Auction in West Palm Beach, FL, raising money to cure paralysis while helping a young boy enjoy a more mobile life.

All seen live on the SPEED television network, the event began with the auctioning of a 450 horsepower small block Chevy 383 V8 engine, generously donated by the Engine Factory. A bidding war began, with the powerful engine finally going for more than $37,000.  In a generous turn of events, the gentleman who won the engine donated it back to the foundation so it could be auctioned off again to raise more funds.  A few hours later, the engine was back on the block and sold for $20,000 to local Aero Toy Store owner Morris Shirazi.  In the meantime, a 35th Anniversary Barrett-Jackson poster signed by Darrell Gwynn, Chip Foose, Caroll Shelby and other celebrities was auctioned and sold for $20,000, bringing the grand total raised for DGF to $77,500 for the day.  Combined with the money raised at Barrett-Jackson's Gala a few nights earlier, over $106,000 was donated to the Darrell Gwynn Foundation from the week of events.

After the first engine auction, the Darrell Gwynn Foundation presented three year old Frankie Galindo with a new, custom built, power wheelchair.  The young boy, who suffers from Cerebral Palsy, received a Quickie® Freestyle power chair with Jay Custom Seating.  The donation was part of DGF's National Wheelchair Giveaway Program, which is done in conjunction with partner Quickie®. With his new chair, little Frankie will now be able to play outside with his brothers and keep up with his preschool friends.

"We want to thank Barrett-Jackson for their continued support of the Darrell Gwynn Foundation and for helping us raise funds to continue our mission" said DGF president Darrell Gwynn.  "We also thank Quickie® for their partnership in the wheelchair giveaway program.  These two wonderful organizations allow us help children like Frankie gain better mobility and continue searching for a cure for paralysis."
