DENVER , July 9, 2004 , The Darrell Gwynn Foundation (DGF) and Sunrise Medical, Quickie again brings its educational and Quality of Life program to Craig Hospital .

On Wednesday, July 14, Craig Hospital will host its 12th Annual Motor Sports Day.  Held on the grounds of the hospital's Englewood campus, the free event brings nearly 200 collector vehicles ranging from race cars, collector and antique cars, many of them specially modified for the needs of disabled drivers.  Slated from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. , the event is open to past and present Craig Hospital patients and families, staff, media and the general public.

During the Craig Hospital event, Sunrise Medical, manufacturer of Quickie wheelchairs, in conjunction with the Darrell Gwynn Foundation will present an M-11 Freestyle power wheelchair to Denver resident Johanna Donlin, a quadriplegic from a spinal cord injury suffered in a 1990 diving accident. The wheelchair presentation is part of an ongoing DGF Quality Of Life grant initiative supported by Longmont, Colorado based Sunrise Medical and Quickie Wheelchairs.  Ms. Donlin’s accident occurred just one week prior to her completion of undergraduate studies at the Colorado College .  She later completed her academic work there and went on to attain a graduate degree in public administration from the University of Colorado .   A former rehabilitation patient at Craig Hospital , today Ms. Donlin serves as a health program manager for the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCLS).  DGF president Darrell Gwynn, a former world champion race car driver paralyzed in an on-track injury in 1990 and Marilyn Hamilton , founder of Quickie will lead the presentation.

At 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Gwynn and Quickie Ambassador Randy Snow will deliver a motivational presentation to Craig Hospital patients and staff. Mr. Snow is widely considered the most celebrated wheelchair athlete of all time.  As a paraplegic, Randy is a three-time Paralympian in three different sports in three different Olympics, and the only wheelchair athlete ever inducted into the Olympic Hall of Fame.

Later in the week, the Darrell Gwynn Foundation, Quickie Wheelchairs and the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) will host wheelchair recipient Johanna Donlin at the Mopar Mile-High Nationals at Bandimere Speedway in Morrison on Friday, July 16.
