Gwynn to present wheelchair in his racing hometown
'The Gatornationals are very special to me,' said Darrell Gwynn, president
and founder of the Darrell Gwynn Foundation. 'This is where I won my
last race before my own accident confined me to a wheelchair, so it is
an ideal setting to present this remarkable chair to Tristan Wilson.'
The foundation presented Gainesville, FL teen Tristan Wilson
a brand new, state-of-the-art wheelchair at a special ceremony during
Hot Rod Association
(NHRA) Gatornationals. The chair Tristan received was the most expensive
chair ever purchased by DGF, priced at more than $13,000. The
15-year old from Gainesville was previously using a very old chair that
did not function properly or fit his current needs.
Gwynn considers Gainesville his racing hometown, having twice won Gatornationals
(1989 and 1990). 'The wonderful community of Gainesville has always been
a big supporter of mine, so I am especially glad to show my support by
donating a chair with the greatest technical advancements available to
a hometown boy,' added Gwynn. - Tristan deserves the chance to be an
independent teenager and this wheelchair will help him do that.'
