Tony Stewart Visits DGF Just Prior to Geico 400 Victory

September 20th, 2011

DAVIE, Fla.  - Champion NASCAR Driver Tony Stewart visited the Darrell Gwynn Foundation offices last week. Stewart, an Honorary Board of Director for the Darrell Gwynn Foundation, visited with the foundation team just a few days prior to his victory at the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Geico 400 in Chicago.

Stewart was in South Florida last week promoting the Sprint Series Chase for the Cup. As one of 10 drivers to qualify, Stewart won the first of 10 Sprint Cup Series Chase races in Chicago on Monday putting him in second place in the over Sprint Cup Series Point Standings. The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series will culminate at the Ford 400 at the Homestead-Miami Speedway on November 20, site of the Darrell Gwynn Foundation’s annual Hot Shot Hot Rods & Reels Charity Fishing Tournament with NASCAR Drivers. Stewart hopes to be one of the drivers to participate in the fishing tournament.

Stewart stopped by the Darrell Gwynn Foundation to see how the foundation was doing, learn about its new Give the Gift of Mobility campaign and talk racing with Darrell Gwynn and Executive Director Curtis Gray. A very friendly Stewart took the time to speak with everyone and pose for photos. His visit was enjoyed by all DGF staff.

Stewart will continue his chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Championship this fall and continue to be a great ambassador and supporter for the Darrell Gwynn Foundation.
