Darrell Gwynn Foundation to Donate $15,000 Wheelchair to Jihoon Kim of Denver at Craig Hospital, Oct. 10

 University of Colorado Student Sustained Spinal Cord Injury in Snowboarding Accident

WHAT:              The Darrell Gwynn Foundation, on behalf of its donors and supporters, will donate a $15,000 wheelchair to Denver native Jihoon Kim, a 28 year-old graduate student at the University of Colorado. Kim sustained a spinal cord injury in a snowboarding accident that left him paralyzed. Jihoon’s family could not afford the power wheelchair he needed. The new power wheelchair will replace his old dilapidated wheelchair and allow him to continue pursuing his Master’s Degree and give him the gift of mobility, freedom and independence. The wheelchair donation is being made through the Darrell Gwynn Foundation’s national Wheelchair Donation Program.

WHY:                The Darrell Gwynn Foundation’s mission is to provide SUPPORT for people living with paralysis and PREVENT spinal cord injuries. The foundation’s primary support program is its national Wheelchair Donation Program which offers support to individuals confined to wheelchairs facing medical and financial hardships by donating custom power wheelchairs. The wheelchair donations give individuals the gift of mobility and offer them more freedom and independence. The Darrell Gwynn Foundation maintains a partnership with Craig Hospital funding the Darrell Gwynn Foundation Patient Assistance Fund which helps alleviate some of the unforeseeable costs newly injured spinal cord victims inquire upon leaving the hospital.
