Darrell Gwynn Foundation Donates Custom Power Wheelchair to Reo Kobayashi from Los Angeles, CA at California Hot Rod Reunion, October 18

Reo KobayashiBakersfield, CA. – The Darrell Gwynn Foundation, on behalf of its donors and race fans, donated a custom power wheelchair to 15 year-old Reo Kobayashi of Los Angeles, CA at the California Hot Rod Reunion in Bakersfield, CA on October 18. Reo was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy and was in need of a custom power wheelchair to improve his health and give him the independence he deserves. The donation by the Darrell Gwynn Foundation will give Reo the gift of mobility and allow him to live a much more active life, be engaged with the community, spend time with his family, participate in wheelchair sports and attend high school. The Darrell Gwynn Foundation’s mission is to provide SUPPORT for people with paralysis and PREVENT spinal cord injuries.

In addition, the restored championship Hemi-powered racecars of Jerry and Darrell Gwynn were on display as part of the “Gwynn Family Championship Racecars Tour” saluted by the NHRA. The racecars commemorate two motorsports legends as Jerry and Darrell Gwynn became the first ever father/son NHRA world champions in drag racing when Darrell won the 1983 Top Alcohol Championship. His father Jerry, a pioneer in drag racing, had previously been crowned the 1969 Super Eliminator Champion. The “Gwynn Family Championship Racecars Tour” showcases the championship cars driven by the two legends during their championship seasons.
