DARRELL GWYNN FOUNDATION NAMED AN
OFFICIAL CHARITY OF THE BARRETT-JACKSON AUTO AUCTION
Davie, FL
- Darrell Gwynn Foundation (DGF) - a nonprofit organization dedicated to
preventing paralysis, providing support for individual's living with paralysis
and ultimately finding a cure for paralysis has been named an official charity
of Barrett-Jackson Auto Auction. Barrett-Jackson, the largest classic car auto
auction, has been instrumental in helping the Foundation raise money in the past
few years. The designation of an official charity places the Foundation among a
few organizations that Barrett-Jackson considers a priority fundraising target.
"We've always
been delighted with the alliance between the Darrell Gwynn Foundation and
Barrett-Jackson," said Darrell Gwynn. "This unique and wonderful organization
has been so generous to us, raising more than $200,000 just this year to help us
in our fight against paralysis and assisting with quality of life issues. Now,
with this official designation, we know we can continue to make a difference
with a partner like Barrett-Jackson."
Barrett-Jackson Collector Auto Auction's West Palm Beach event raised more than
$100,000 for the Foundation this past April, with a live auction televised on
the SPEED channel. During the auction, DGF presented a three-year old boy,
Frankie Galindo, with his own power-operated wheelchair. This presentation
is part of the Foundation's Wheelchair Donation Program in association with
Quickie wheelchairs. Donating wheelchairs to individuals, especially children
with spinal cord injuries and raising money to fund targeted research to
expedite a cure are two of the missions of the Darrell Gwynn Foundation.
"It is our
pleasure to welcome the Darrell Gwynn Foundation into our select group of
official charities," said Craig Jackson, President of Barrett-Jackson Auto
Auction. "The work that is done by this Foundation is inspiring and important
and we look forward to a long association, supporting this cause and ultimately
finding a cure for paralysis."
The next
major event for the Barrett-Jackson Auto Auction is January 13 - 21 in
Scottsdale, followed by the West Palm Beach event March 28 , April 1.
Barrett-Jackson traditionally designates at least one spot on its auction block
for a car or engine and donates 100% of the proceeds to the Darrell Gwynn
Foundation.
