BARRETT-JACKSON AUCTION PROVES SUCCESSFUL
ONCE AGAIN FOR THE
DARRELL GWYNN FOUNDATION
Palm Beach, Fla., April 04,
2005, For the third consecutive year, the Darrell Gwynn Foundation (DGF)
was a featured charity at the prestigious Barrett-Jackson Classic Car
Auction.
The event took place at the
South Florida Expo Center at the South Florida Fairgrounds in West Palm
Beach, FL and was viewed by millions live on SPEED channel.
The four-day classic car
event began with an opening night Gala which featured a charity auction to
raise money for DGF and the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children,
an organization supported by child advocate John Walsh. The featured auction
item for DGF was a set of tickets to the 2005 NASCAR Ford Championship Weekend
held at Homestead-Miami Speedway. The tickets were graciously donated by
Homestead-Miami Speedway, a loyal supporter of DGF.
The highlight of the event
occurred on Sunday during "prime time" when a donated Small Block Chevrolet
450 Horsepower engine with billet aluminum accessories was auctioned off for
$15,000.00. The motor, donated by Engine Factory.com was actually started up
on the stage twice and was a favorite with the audience. The electrified
crowd was then inspired by auctioneer "Spanky" who motivated them to give an
additional $4,490.00 in cash donations to DGF.
It was an exciting and
heartfelt evening and a successful weekend for the Darrell Gwynn Foundation
with a total of $20,990.00 raised for spinal cord research.
"Once again, I want to
thank Craig Jackson and all the fine folks at the Barrett-Jackson Classic Car
Auction for another successful year for DGF. Your continued support of
our organization will help bring us one step closer to a cure for paralysis and
get folks like myself out of a wheelchair!"
