DARRELL GWYNN
FOUNDATION TO PRESENT TOP-OF-THE-LINE WHEELCHAIR TO TRISTAN
WILSON OF GAINESVILLE
Gwynn presents chair in his
racing hometown
March 6, 2007: The
Darrell Gwynn Foundation is about to change someone?s life.
The Foundation is scheduled to present Gainesville, FL teen
Tristan Wilson a brand new, state-of-the-art wheelchair at a
special ceremony during the 2007 National Hot Rod Association
(NHRA) Gatornationals. Tristan suffers from cerebral palsy and
with this new wheelchair he will gain tremendous independence.
?The Gatornationals are very
special to me,? said Darrell Gwynn, president and founder of the
Darrell Gwynn Foundation. ?This is where I won my last race
before my own accident confined me to a wheelchair, so it is an
ideal setting to present this remarkable chair to Tristan
Wilson.?
Gwynn noted that the new
wheelchair Tristan will receive is the most expensive chair ever
purchased by DGF, priced at more than $13,000. The 15-year old
from Gainesville is currently using a very old chair that does
not function properly or fit his current needs.
Gwynn considers Gainesville his
racing hometown, having twice won Gatornationals (1989 and
1990). ?The wonderful community of Gainesville has always
been a big supporter of mine, so I am especially glad to show my
support by donating a chair with the greatest technical
advancements available to a hometown boy,? added Gwynn. ?Tristan
deserves the chance to be an independent teenager and this
wheelchair will help him do that.?
The Darrell Gwynn Foundation
donates wheelchairs to children with spinal cord injuries and
other paralyzing afflictions. In addition to the donation,
Tristan and his family will also be treated to a VIP day at
Gatornationals, courtesy of DGF. Tristan is an 8th
grader and a die-hard University of Florida Gators fan with a
knack for remembering remarkable statistics about the team. He
participates in numerous sports for children
with challenges, including baseball, soccer and flag football,
and is a member of the Junior Beta (Honors) Club.
The wheelchair presentation is
scheduled for Saturday, March 17, 2007 at approximately 12:55
p.m.
