DARRELL GWYNN FOUNDATION PRESENTS
THREE YEAR- OLD WITH NEW POWER
WHEELCHAIR
Tot gets her own set of wheels during Barrett Jackson
Auto Auction
March 1, 2007:
West Palm Beach?s Lana Rubin is about to receive the wheelchair of her
dreams. Not many 3-year olds dream of a wheelchair but Lana suffers from
arthogryposis so that her shoulders, hips and knees contract. She is unable
to walk independently. The Darrell Gwynn Foundation will be presenting the
youngster with a brand new, power wheelchair at a special ceremony during
the Barrett Jackson Auto Auction.
?We are delighted to give
Lana a power wheelchair and to offer her mobility and independence,? said
Darrell Gwynn, founder of the Darrell Gwynn Foundation. ?It is a big boost
to have the ability to get around ? and this chair will give her a new lease
on life.?
The Darrell Gwynn Foundation
is an official charity of the Barrett Jackson Auto Auction. The
upcoming West Palm Beach event is set for the week of March 28 through April
1st
and will also feature the auction of Sir Paul McCartney?s 2006 custom-built
Cadillac, where all the proceeds will go to the Foundation. The wheelchair
presentation and the auction will be seen live on the SPEED Channel on
Saturday, March 31st and will be immediately followed by the
auction of McCartney?s car, which features unique and luxurious amenities
such as 18-inch performance tires, performance breaks and a unique
animal-free interior. In addition to the wheelchair donation, Lana and her
family will be treated to the ?Barrett-Jackson experience?, a VIP day at the
event, courtesy of the Darrell Gwynn Foundation and Barrett-Jackson.
?We are grateful to the
Barrett Jackson Auto Auction for providing us with the opportunity to make a
difference in someone?s life,? added Gwynn. ?It is always a thrilling moment
to give someone a new wheelchair ? and a new sense of freedom.?
The Darrell Gwynn
Foundation donates wheelchairs to children with spinal cord injuries and
other paralyzing afflictions. Lana, who turns three in April, is an only
child who loves Sesame Street?s Elmo and all things pink. Her new wheelchair
will even be designed in pink, per her request. She loves her outdoor
playtime and sitting on her rocking chair at physical therapy
at Easter Seals Igoe-Amar Child
Development Center in West Palm Beach .
