Stevenson offers Sir Paul's
custom-designed CTS Cadillac for auction at
Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach
event to benefit
the Darrell Gwynn Foundation
West Palm Beach,
FL: The Darrell Gwynn Foundation (DGF) announced that car
collector Harry Stevenson of Longwood, Florida has donated Paul
McCartney's custom-designed 2006 CTS Cadillac to the Barrett-Jackson
Auto Auction's West Palm Beach event to raise money for the
foundation. The event takes place March 28 through April1 with this
car scheduled to go on the block on March 31st.
The
car is not only a one-of-a-kind from one of the greatest names in
rock-and-roll but was autographed by Sir Paul, vocal legend Tony
Bennett and late-night comedian Jay Leno. Stevenson purchased the
car last year at the Barrett-Jackson Auto Auction for $107,000, and
has now donated it to DGF to reap additional funds for the
organization that works to educate the public about spinal cord
injuries.
"It was a wonderful
gesture of generosity for Mr. Stevenson to return this vehicle of
incomparable historic and sentimental value to the auction block,"
said Darrell Gwynn, president of the Darrell Gwynn Foundation. "We
are so fortunate to have him as a benefactor and friend, and are
grateful for his compassion and commitment to help our cause."
The Barrett Jackson Auto
Auction, which will air live on the Speed Channel, has long been a
significant supporter of DGF and has made the foundation one of its
official charities. Stevenson's donation " the McCartney car "
features 18-inch performance tires, polished wheels, performance
breaks, sport suspension tuning, Xenon HID lamps, StabiliTrak, a
tire-pressuring monitoring system, a limited-slip differential,
restyled rocker moldings, dual exhaust tips, a special sport grille
and a rear spoiler. The car also sports a unique animal free
interior.
"This car is truly
something special, and in donating it to the Darrell Gwynn
Foundation, two purposes are achieved," said Stevenson. "Someone new
gets to enjoy this unique automobile and more money is raised for
the Darrell Gwynn Foundation."
"The Barrett Jackson
Collector Auto Auction is truly unique," added Gwynn. "The company
never fails to help us in unexpected ways. This year, as well as
last year, it was by bringing us the goodness of Harry Stevenson.
